Olympic Spirit Inspiration

The Paris Olympics 2024 are about to begin, and the athletes will be sweating on the field, pouring years of effort into every Olympic competition, chasing their dreams, and achieving their goals. The Olympic spirit is truly embodied in them. As spectators, we also closely follow the Olympic spirit in our lives and work, even if we don’t realize it. As a startup in the 3D printing industry, 3DSPRO has found that everyone in our field is actually closely connected to the Olympic spirit. So, let’s find our connections to the Olympics in the little things.

The Little Things in 3D Printing

Layer Height

Layer Height

The Olympic spirit pursues excellence, and 3D printing not only pursues excellence, but also pursues efficiency. There are many factors that affect the quality and efficiency of 3D printing, among which the layer height parameters are the basis for successful printing. If the layer height is set too high, it will directly affect the resolution of the final product; if the layer height is set too low, it will take a long time and affect efficiency.

Support Structures

Every athlete participating in the Olympic Games relies on the support of family, friends, and their team. Similarly, in 3D printing, supports ensure that the final printed product does not warp, collapse, or deform. It seems that neither people nor objects can do without supports (except for SLS and MJF).

Post-processing

Post-processing

The essence of the Olympics is to make the world more united and better, and in 3D printing, we are also constantly striving for better results and high fidelity. Post-processing is the method that helps us achieve higher quality and more beautiful products. There are many types of post-processing, such as spray painting, vapor smoothing, electroplating, tumbling, anodizing, and so on.

.. There are countless “little things” that influence the outcome of a 3D printed part. Let’s hear what our customers have to say about the “little things” in their 3D printing projects.

The Little Things in 3D Printing Projects (Shared by Our Customers)

"I wanted to make a decoration with nylon materials + tumbling because I wanted it to be both tough and beautiful. I've tried different nylon materials and tumbling mediums but the result was not satisfying. With the engineer's suggestion, I tried resin material + spray painting. It was better than I expected, tough enough with a smooth surface."

I was trying to have 3DSPRO to 3D print a metal prototype. It needs to be polished with high precision. I wasn't sure if that was feasible, so I discussed it with their engineer. The engineer suggested I compare the result of 3D printing + fine polishing and the result of 3D printing + CNC machining. 3D printing + CNC machining turned out to be great, and I could keep my original design."

– Jay

"As an experienced 3D printing user, I use Anycubic Photon workshop to improve my designs. However, this time, the software generated a complex inner design, making the product hard to print and raising the cost. So, I tried to change the inner design to hollow while following 3DSPRO's design guideline of wall thickness. My product was printed successfully with the costs lowered by 30%."

– Phil

"I love using 3D printing services to make figurines, but from time to time, I see some tiny details missing on the printed product. So, I made adjustments to the file according to the design guidelines and chose a fine polishing service to prevent unwanted sanding during support removal. I wouldn't say it 100% solved the issue, but I see a big improvement."

Of course, we also want to know what your daily checklist, goals, or the “little things” that Share your goal for today to receive $5* to your 3DSPRO Account Balance*. We will also be drawing one lucky winner* on September 12 to win a $100 coupon* and three lucky winners* to each win a $20 coupon*.

Exciting comments
  • 1. For me, my daily checklist includes a morning meditation, a healthy breakfast, and a short workout. These little things keep me motivated and focused on my goals!
  • 2. My goal is to travel the world after I finish my last 3D printing project.
  • 3. Things that keep me on track involve setting daily engineering goals, reviewing my designs from the previous day, and a quick brainstorming session with my team.
  • 4. I have many goals to achieve, one of which is to make a replica of the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, and I want to make it using 3D printing.
  • 5. I am biggest fan of setting small goals, such as completing the tasks on my list, taking the cat for a walk after get off work, or going to the gym after get off work... When I achieve each small goal, I feel fulfilled. So completing daily goals is my biggest motivation.
  • 6. On my checklist, I make sure to include a balanced breakfast, reviewing project specs, and collaborating with my team on complex problems.
  • 7. My checklist is ensuring the 3d printed parts are not overbridged. This is to improved the stability of the mould in the sintering phase. For ensuring mould and preventing losses in material costs.
